Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant to join their Onshore Team. Based in Aberdeen, the role will be on a permanent, full-time basis and offers hybrid working.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to tender and contracts process, provide estimates for profits, withholding, and value-added taxes as required, understand and apply the tax terms agreed in drilling service contracts with clients.
- Undertake new country setup: assist with registrations required to establish in new locations (branch, company, or tax registrations as applicable), develop understanding of costs and reporting requirements, and set up local bank accounts as needed.
- Review annual company tax returns (various countries): review draft returns, liaise with local advisors, and manage the submission process.
- Review monthly withholding tax and VAT return preparation (various countries): review draft returns, liaise with local advisors, and oversee submission.
- Calculate tax payments due, monitor deadlines, and assist with related accounting entries. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting within the finance department.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end tax reports, and handle queries from management, Gothenburg, or auditors.
- Prepare responses to tax audits and information requests from tax authorities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation and draft internal agreements as needed.
- Manage CountryByCountry and Pillar2 reporting processes.
- Assist in developing internal tax processes.
- Keep the Tax Controller informed of relevant issues.
- Work within the framework of the Group's Tax Policy.
- Perform any other duties as required by the Tax Controller.
REQUIREMENTS
- Standard or Higher Education qualification.
- Experience and understanding of the tax implications of multi-jurisdictional international offshore drilling operations.
- Good knowledge of accounting systems.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
