Senior Engine Technician & Workshop Supervisor
Location: Havant
Hours: 45 hours a week Monday-Friday
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000

Role Overview

You will lead the day-to-day operations of a busy engine shop specialising in classic car restoration, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to high technical standards. This includes overseeing workflow, supervising technicians, engaging with customers, and contributing directly to complex engine builds and mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage daily workflow across engine rebuild jobs.
  • Plan labour and job schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Procure materials and coordinate with suppliers for timely parts availability.
  • Liaise with adjacent machine shop teams to align project schedules.
  • Oversee job documentation, job numbers, and accurate time recording.
  • Provide professional progress updates and manage customer communications.
  • Investigate and resolve any project issues or complaints with management.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture within the workshop.
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain workshop standards.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong background in engine building, mechanical fitting, or engine overhauls.
  • Proven experience in a workshop supervisor or team lead position.
  • Project coordination or job scheduling experience in a mechanical environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Confident in multitasking and managing workshop priorities.
