Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.

The Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA), one of three schools in the Defence College of Support (DCSp) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Catering, and Personnel Administration. We are predominantly based at Worthy Down - a newly built, modern campus in Winchester.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week. While there may be the opportunity for home working after training has been completed, attendance to the stated site will be required.

Job Description

This role sits within the Training Support Wing of DSLA, providing support to a variety of areas of training at the school, whether that be analysis, course design, electronic learning or course administration.

You will join a busy and lively team and you will carry out a number of tasks to enable our courses to run. You will be the point of contact for the courses you are responsible for, ensuring that all course spaces are filled where possible, and making sure that class rooms are ready for the students. You will provide administrative support to our instructors, and for our trainees.

You will take ownership for ensuring that all trainees are loaded onto the appropriate training courses, co-ordinate eligibility checks, issue Joining Instructions, and booking resources so that trainees can enhance their opportunity whilst they are at DSLA Worthy Down.

Some of the tasks you will be asked to deliver include:

  • Act as a point of contact for the trainers, trainees, and accommodation cell for matters relating to course and trainee administration for a variety of courses held at Worthy Down. This may be by telephone, e-mail, or face to face
  • Process all course administration
