We are currently seeking a Casual Offshore Chemist to join the team as needed in Aberdeen. As an Offshore Chemist, you will be responsible for performing sampling and analysis according to recognised international methods and documented procedures, and for preparing reports. You will need to deliver consistently high standards of analytical performance and ensure the smooth and continued operation of the platform laboratory.

Key Accountabilities

• Demonstrate compliance with all test methods, procedures, and quality systems essential for best practices.
• Represent SGS on client sites, adhering to their test methods, procedures, and QHSE requirements.
• Liaise with line managers and onshore support to address issues with equipment, methods, or samples, and initiate corrective actions to ensure service continuity.
• Identify and implement improvements to laboratory operations to maximise equipment availability, maintain and improve technical standards, and ensure profitability.
• Ensure adequate stock of consumables for continuous productivity.
• Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, safe, and suitable for use.
• Complete routine sampling, analysis, and reporting as per client procedures.

• HNC level in chemistry or a related science-based subject, or equivalent.
• Offshore medical certificate.

• MIST Online Training.

Desirable

• SBT01
• Oil in Water
• H2S Sampling Experience – Use of half mask and full BA mask
• Oil in Sand
• NORM Awareness
