IPS is hiring!

We are looking for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our industry-leading Electrical Engineering team at our state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Birmingham, UK.

The Senior Electrical Engineer works independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Group Leader. The role may involve overseeing the entire design process or assisting as a technical expert on specialized designs. The engineer may work on several concurrent projects and is recognized as an electrical expert.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assess project requirements, break down projects into tasks, and collaborate with a Project Manager to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
  2. Write scope of work documents for electrical design based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.
  3. Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems; analyze the operation of existing systems.
  4. Coordinate with code officials and other professionals when interpretations or exceptions to building codes are needed.
  5. Assign and review work of the project design team; monitor progress and notify the Project Manager of scope changes or additional services.
  6. Review contractor payment applications with a thorough understanding of the construction process.
  7. Coordinate project documentation with internal teams, clients, and other professionals.
  8. Prepare or review construction budgets based on experience and project scope.
  9. Promote and participate in developing company design and production standards.
  10. Assist in educating and developing the design staff; serve as a resource for design questions.
  11. Use computer-aided engineering and design software to prepare documents.
  12. Create specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams.
  13. Provide drawings for own designs and produce sketches for drafters.
  14. Research design options and document findings for project teams.
  15. Ensure drawings and designs comply with company standards.
  16. Handle special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements

Requirements

  1. Minimum 8 years' experience in electrical design, preferably in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Nutraceutical, or Life Science industries.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  3. Registered Professional Engineer (preferred).
  4. Proficiency in engineering design software and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  5. Experience designing building electrical systems: power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, etc.
  6. Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, IBC, and related standards.
  7. Experience with medium voltage systems, hazardous classified areas, and telecommunications is a plus.
