It's no secret that public and third sector organisations are facing some tough challenges. This Head of Public Service Innovation role is about leading our work on public service innovation, shaping and driving impactful work to tackle these complex challenges head-on.

Focusing on innovation, insight, and collaborative leadership, you’ll ensure our strategy and approach are clear and that project delivery quality remains high. In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping the future of our public services, positioning Capacity as a leader and trailblazer in the field.

You’ll bring extensive leadership experience in public service delivery, along with experience in transformation, service design, consultancy, or change management. You’ve led complex programmes, applied strategic thinking to guide direction, and secured contracts or funded work through strong proposals and relationships.

You’ll thrive in a highly accountable leadership role, shaping and delivering Capacity’s current and future projects, managing expectations, enthusiasm, and priorities. Even on busy days, you’ll motivate yourself and your team to improve public services for the people who rely on them.

You’ll dedicate your time to leading a dynamic team of up to 5 members to fulfill our commitments to clients and local communities. You’ll build relationships, develop bids to attract new clients, and engage our existing clients and partners, ensuring they remain connected to Capacity and proud of our work.

Our projects are often complex, and setbacks may occur. Therefore, you’ll be open and honest about what’s working, what isn’t, and where additional support is needed.

The Extras
  • For full-time roles: 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). If you currently have up to 33 days, we’ll match it.
  • 2 Capacity bank holidays per year.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including majority remote work.
  • Free eye tests and vouchers for glasses.
  • Scottish Widows Pension Scheme, matched up to 6%.
  • Funded health support, including counselling and physiotherapy.
  • Holiday buy-back scheme (up to 5 days per year).
  • Team days and social events. Free lunches.
  • A supportive team environment.
