About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of our Security Team at the London Borough of Hounslow as a Lead Security Officer. In this pivotal role, you'll be at the heart of ensuring the safety and security of Hounslow House, its staff, visitors, and the physical assets within. You'll be leading your team on the allocated shift, managing the day-to-day security operations with a strong focus on customer service, incident response, and maintaining a secure environment.

As a Lead Security Officer, you'll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are critical to the well-being and safety of everyone in Hounslow House. From frontline support at Access Hounslow and the Hounslow Main Library to the meticulous management of keys and security passes, your role is designed to ensure seamless security operations. You'll collaborate closely with the multi-disciplinary Facilities Management team, contribute to emergency preparedness, and lead by example in promoting a culture of safety and vigilance.

In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to further develop your leadership and operational skills within a dynamic and supportive environment. You'll be encouraged to take initiative, propose improvements, and participate in training and development activities that enhance your capabilities and the effectiveness of the security service we deliver. This position offers a pathway to not only grow professionally but also to make a significant impact on the community we serve by ensuring their safety and security.

You will be working a 40-hour contract that will include early mornings, late evenings, and weekend working, as required.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

Joining the Security Team at the London Borough of Hounslow, you'll become a key player in a group deeply committed to ensuring the safety and security of Hounslow House, a central hub for council staff, councillors, services, and the community it serves.

Our team's primary aim is to create a secure, welcoming environment for all who visit and work within Hounslow House, from the main public areas to the library and event spaces. The impact of our work is felt daily by residents and staff alike, who rely on us to ensure their safety and well-being during their time in the building.

As a Lead Security Officer, you will be working alongside a dedicated team comprising Security Officers and other Lead Officers, all under the guidance of the Security Manager. Your role will involve close collaboration with these team members, as well as interaction with the broader Facilities Management team, to oversee and enhance the security operations within Hounslow House.

You will report directly to the Security Manager, who will support your development and operational effectiveness. Together, we strive not only to protect physical assets and individuals but also to contribute positively to the community's experience of Hounslow House, reinforcing its status as a safe, accessible, and inclusive space for everyone.

Your contributions will be vital to our continuous improvement, helping to ensure that we remain responsive to the needs of the borough and its residents.

About You

We are searching for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in public safety and eager to contribute to a community-focused security team.   • Experienced security officer with both Door Supervisor and CCTV SIA licenses, as well as first aid at work qualifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring high levels of performance and fostering a positive working environment.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with a diverse range of individuals, from team members to the public and external partners.
  • A proactive problem-solver who can swiftly assess situations, make informed decisions, and implement effective security measures.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, physical security systems and health and safety regulations to maintain a secure environment.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise tasks efficiently, ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day security activities.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development, with an eagerness to enhance your knowledge and skills in security management.
