An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 6 Hospital-based Midwives to work within our Meridian Team. We are looking for confident, enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated midwives to join our team, providing safe, individualized care to birthing people in our hospital setting.

You should have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with a positive approach to change. You must also be an effective team worker. The post involves rotation between the antenatal/postnatal ward and delivery suite.

You will need to be flexible, as shifts include weekends, bank holidays, nights, and occasional rotation to other clinical areas within maternity to meet service needs. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Assessing the full range of care needs within the maternity unit and developing, implementing, and evaluating safe care for low and high-risk birthing people and their families.
  2. Working autonomously within professional practice guidelines.
  3. Acting as a mentor to junior midwives, students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  4. Promoting equality, diversity, and rights.
  5. Providing constructive feedback and support to help junior midwives develop their clinical skills.
  6. Prioritizing time to ensure safe care is delivered to birthing people and families.
  7. Maintaining privacy and dignity of birthing people and their babies.
  8. Ensuring the health and social setting responds to individual needs, especially those who are disadvantaged.

Torbay and South Devon Maternity Unit is committed to providing high-quality, safe, and tailored care throughout pregnancy.

You will work as part of a team of midwives and maternity support workers, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent, safe services. A passion for your role and a willingness to learn new skills are essential.

This opportunity allows you to join a dynamic team working in an ever-changing environment.
