Your Career

Are you passionate about protecting data and ensuring privacy in a rapidly evolving digital landscape? We’re seeking an Assistant Data Protection Officer to help safeguard our clients' and employees' personal information. In this pivotal role, you will support our efforts to comply with data protection regulations, implement robust data governance strategies, and foster a culture of privacy across the organisation.

Your Team

The Data Protection Office is a dedicated team of professionals handling all aspects of data protection, from impact assessments to retention guidance. You will collaborate closely with our Cyber Security, Business Assurance, Legal, and IT teams, providing support across the organisation. Your stakeholders will include the Executive Team, Directors, and the Board. As part of a close-knit team, you will be encouraged to challenge, grow, and develop your expertise in Data Protection, with ample opportunities for further education.

Your Impact

We seek a highly motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Data Protection Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in managing compliance with international data protection and privacy legislation, supporting our company and clients in meeting these standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of DPO-based projects, including planning, monitoring, control, reporting, and communication to ensure successful implementations within quality, time, and budget constraints.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure understanding, management, and completion of tasks within agreed timelines, and produce progress reports for stakeholders and the Executive Board.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining a data governance strategy, managing privacy risks, and tracking Data Protection Impact Assessments and audits.
  • Support responses to Supplier Due Diligence requests and assist in developing communications, training, and guidance on data privacy compliance.
  • Ensure individuals' rights are managed according to company policies, maintain processing records, manage offboarding processes, and support data breach management.
  • Manage incident logs, coordinate updates and closures, liaise with the Information Security Manager, and support responses to customer contract queries.
Qualifications
  • Experience in data protection, compliance, or related roles in a commercial or public sector setting.
  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations, including UK & EU GDPR.
Desirable
  • Relevant certifications (CISM, CISSP, CISMP)
  • ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E)
