CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
SALARY: £19.01 per hour, plus £2,500 per annum shift allowance

A vacancy has arisen within our team at Drax Power Station for a Control Room Operator to support our team at Drax Power Station.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provides a varied Operations and Maintenance service to our client at Drax Power Station. We handle, maintain, and reclaim materials including FBA, Coal, and Mitigant Slurry, whilst managing material stocks and transportation using a wide range of Mobile Plant.

The Role Briefly Encompasses The Following
  • Operating and monitoring all aspects of fixed plant associated with the biomass and materials handling areas.
  • Operate and monitor plant from the Materials Handling Control Room.
  • Delegate work activities to HIS operational employees.
  • Carry out all operational tasks in the HIS contract area (training/competence required).
  • Identify defects through alarm system monitoring, logging, and raising WOCs on the maintenance control system.
  • Shift maintenance planning administration (planning and management of general shift resources).
  • Update the maintenance planning documentation.
  • Ensure safety from the system.
  • Communicate with Safety Controller.
  • Perform ‘Designated Person’ duties, including application/removal of safety precautions as instructed by Safety Controller and specific GP4 duties.
  • Operate the MH Control Desks in accordance with training criteria.
  • Maintain ‘first responder’ responsibilities.
  • Identify alarms, attend to alarm locations on site, and diagnose problems.
  • Assist on site with major breakdown responses.
  • Attend and assist in cleaning spillages and blockages.
  • Attend site with team for testing of plant and equipment.
  • Attend site with team for plant shutdowns.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Skills/Attributes
  • Operationally trained and competent.
  • Experience with control room operational tasks.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of PPM structure and inspection criteria.
  • Understanding of RCM structure and inspection criteria.
  • Asset lubrication principles and application.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Permit accepter within Drax safety rules.
  • Forklift truck operation.
  • Designated Persons – Precautions (Application & Removal), GP4 duties.
  • Experience with Hot Works (Welding & Burning).
  • Power Plant Training – Mechanical Maintenance Program.
  • Maintenance Qualifications: Craft apprentice trained leading to City & Guilds – Level 3 (1788).
  • NVQ Level 2 (Operator/Maintainer minimum).
