Job description

Job Title: Plant Operator
Location: Shropshire
Contract: Outside IR35

Our client is currently seeking skilled and experienced Plant Operators for a contract-based role in Oswestry. The primary responsibility will be the process monitoring of the new plant during the commissioning phase.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess the process operating parameters on a daily basis, including:
  • MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids)
  • SSVI (Sludge Volume Index)
  • Final effluent analyses
  • Sludge thickener performance
  • Sludge and chemicals
  • Regularly monitor plant equipment, including:
  • Ferric and caustic chemical systems
  • Sludge thickeners
  • Maintain and monitor analysers, recalibrate instruments, and order reagents as required.
  • Adjust process parameters to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report directly to the Advance Plus process commissioning engineer.
  • Work closely with the commissioning team to ensure smooth project progression and completion.
  • Attend regular meetings to discuss progress, performance, and any related issues.
  • Complete daily logs and record all operational data.
  • Order necessary chemicals (ferric, caustic, poly, reagents, cuvettes for sampling analyses) and take deliveries.
  • Assist the team with shutdowns, access requirements, and other related tasks during the commissioning phase.

About The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a skilled and experienced plant operator, with a comprehensive understanding of the day-to-day operational needs of a water treatment plant and the ability to respond to any issues that arise during the commissioning phase.
