Job Summary

Are you a proactive, driven, and empathetic individual passionate about supporting children and young people? Do you understand the challenges faced by some youth and are familiar with youth culture?

If so, join St Giles as a Specialist Caseworker in a multi-disciplinary team within the Emergency Department of Newham Hospital. You will support young people from admission through discharge into the community.

About St Giles Trust

About this role

As a Specialist Caseworker, you will support the team by providing peer supervision, deputise for the Senior Caseworker when needed, and assist with data collection for project monitoring. You will maintain a resource of onward referrals and build strong relationships with clinicians, hospital staff, and services like CAMHS, IDVA, and COMPASS.

You will identify and assess young victims of violence, develop support and risk management plans, and provide advocacy and practical support such as social and housing assistance, appointment accompaniment, employment, benefits, debt advice, and court appearances.

What we are looking for

  • Personal or lived experience related to the criminal justice system or issues facing this client group
  • Experience in support, advice, and advocacy
  • Experience assessing needs of at-risk youth
  • Experience working in multi-agency teams
  • Experience using support plans effectively
  • Ability to engage challenging young people successfully
  • Excellent IT, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, collaborative, and professional approach

We are committed to safeguarding and will require successful applicants to undergo an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS Check. We encourage applications from those with personal experience relevant to the role.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, generous leave, pension, flexible working, mentoring, counselling, therapy sessions, life insurance, duvet days, season ticket loan, perks, and more.
