Academics are seeking to support the education of future generations within the Wakefield region. We have the experience to work with Early Career Teachers and help them find their first teaching post.

Our recent ECTs have shared positive feedback: "Staff are wonderful! Receive great communication and are really supportive." and "Super professional & friendly, I've received the best support whilst being with Academics as an ECT."

Some ECTs may feel that a full year in one class is too much initially, and supply teaching could be an ideal solution.

The role of a supply teacher with Academics requires you to be:

  • Highly motivated

  • Think on your feet
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with pupils
  • Possess strong classroom management skills
  • Highly organised
  • Adhere to school policies and follow set plans
  • Maintain a supply "bag of tricks" for extension tasks and pupil engagement
  • Professional and approachable
  • Marking the work set, if required

The role of a supply teacher can offer you:

  • Competitive rates of daily pay
  • Better work-life balance
  • Flexibility
  • Varied local work to experience different schools before deciding where to complete your induction year, with support and guidance
  • Opportunity to provide continuity in the classroom and schools
  • Chance to raise attainment and support children's learning and progress
