Your Impact

Are you an experienced Engineer who wants to work with on the radar flying in the Typhoon?

You will be working at our Edinburgh site as the Project Engineering Lead (PEL) on the Processor for the ECRS Mk0 / Mk1 radar, which is operational in the Eurofighter Typhoon. You’ll be working within our Radar and Advanced Targeting (RATS) business area on a hybrid basis. You’ll be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering engineering innovation to the project, for product development and production support.You’ll collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business and work in close partnership with the Project Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer and Design Authorities to determine, develop, deliver and support the technical solution.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Processor products are delivered on time and to cost.
  • Developing innovative solutions to a wide variety of engineering problems and challenges in conjunction with Engineering and Project teams, ensuring that the design rationale is fully documented.
  • Agreeing and implementing, qualification and acceptance criteria and design certification with the Chief Engineer and Design Authorities.
  • Producing effective, efficient and realistic plans to deliver solutions, working closely and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Guiding and mentoring engineering team to develop and grow their skills.
  • Ensuring efficient application of the company's Lifecycle Management processes, including design and gate reviews.
  • Delivering all engineering aspects of the monthly Project Performance Reviews.
  • Supporting the management of suppliers and project make-or-buy decisions.
  • Controlling project configuration and change management.

What you’ll bring

As a PEL, you will have proven leadership and decision-making skills in a highly complex and dynamic engineering environment at a senior level.

  • A degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject.
  • Good problem-solving ability.
  • Good schedule and budget control.
  • People management and development skills within a large multi-skilled team.
  • Knowledge of a typical Engineering lifecycle process and business processes.
  • A willingness to travel within the UK and possibly overseas
  • Ideally experience of working within the areas of Radar and/or Communications.
  • Ideally experience working with system design/system architecture.
