Cambridge Econometrics (CE) is a global independent economics consultancy, that helps organisations across the public and privates sectors to make informed strategic and policy decisions. We do this by providing clear, intelligent and actionable insights through the effective use of evidence, economic analysis and modelling.

Our research projects cover a range of environmental, economic and social policy topics including greening the economy, sustainable investment, the future of work, industrial strategy and regional economic development. Our clients include the European Commission, national, regional and local governments, NGOs, industry and investors as well as international organisations including the ILO, IRENA, UN organisations and the World Bank. The breadth of our work makes CE a stimulating place to work and we've been listed by the Financial Times as a Top Management Consultancy since 2020.

We are an SME, employing around 60 people at our companies in Cambridge (UK), Brussels, Budapest and Northampton (MA) in the USA. We frequently work with partner organisations from academia, consultancy, philanthropy and the not-for-profit sector.

We are hiring multiple Economists and Senior Economists at our headquarters in Cambridge, UK. We are recruiting across a number of teams including:

  • Global Climate Policy - responsible for delivering economic modelling projects, often using our flagship macroeconometric model E3ME or building and using bespoke models, for international organisations and clients across the world. Projects focus on policy challenges of global significance and relevance to emerging and developing economies.
  • UK Environmental Policy - delivering economic analysis and modelling for public sector clients and organisations shaping the policy agenda across the UK. Projects cover climate, energy and natural resources topics with a strong focus on policy impact assessments, economic valuation and cost benefit analysis.
  • UK Economic and Social Policy - carrying out data analysis and bespoke modelling for UK public sector clients. Projects focus on issues relating to local economic development and economic geography, productivity and regional policy, innovation and industrial policy, infrastructure and land use, and labour markets and the future of work.
Job Description

  • contributing to projects by undertaking quantitative analysis - data handling and visualisation, statistical analysis, econometric estimation, macroeconomic modelling - and interpretating and presenting results
  • qualitative research to inform and complement the quantitative analysis, e.g. literature review
  • interpreting the client's needs and undertaking analysis to meet those needs
  • conducting policy analysis on topics related to economic, social and/or environmental policy
  • drafting project reports and other deliverables, including presentations, to clearly communicate the key messages from CE's research
  • supporting business development activities by contributing to proposals to secure new opportunities
  • contributing to internal research projects and marketing activities
