Economics Lecturer - East London

Our client, a well-established further education college in East London, is seeking a knowledgeable and inspiring Economics Lecturer to join their academic team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach motivated learners and help shape their future in higher education or careers in finance, business, and public policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and interactive lessons in Economics at Level 3 (A-Level or BTEC) and/or HE level
  • Develop effective learning materials and schemes of work in line with curriculum standards
  • Use blended learning tools and classroom-based methods to deliver content
  • Assess student work regularly, provide meaningful feedback, and monitor academic progress
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments
  • Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that meets the needs of a diverse student cohort
  • Track student attendance and performance, and provide pastoral support where necessary
  • Participate in curriculum planning, quality assurance, and team meetings
  • Coordinate enrichment opportunities or guest speakers to enhance the subject delivery

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed) or a willingness to work towards one
  • A degree in Economics or a closely related subject (e.g., Finance, Business, Econometrics)
  • Experience delivering Economics in an FE or post-16 setting (e.g., A-Level, BTEC)
  • A sound understanding of economic theory, practical application, and current global economic trends
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • A learner-focused approach and a passion for teaching
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience teaching Access to HE or HE-level Economics
  • Familiarity with awarding bodies such as AQA, Edexcel, or BTEC
  • Confident using online platforms such as Teams, Moodle, or Google Classroom
