Job description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Economic Analysis Officer with strong quantitative skills, specifically in data analysis and evidence assessment. The successful candidate will be proficient in conducting high-quality strategic analysis.

Proven experience in producing high-quality research and knowledge of commissioning external research are essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to influence others through complex information and diverse data sources.

Candidates must possess a highly numerate degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake strategic analysis, selecting relevant information and applying specialist techniques to identify themes for strategy, policy development, or technical designs.
  2. Evaluate research and stay updated with advancements in the field to ensure the application of leading thinking and technologies to tools, techniques, and processes.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and partners to improve collaborative working and ensure activities align across the North of England.
  4. Develop and maintain an approach to monitoring, evaluation, and feedback to effectively track the impact of our Strategic Plan (SP), including short/medium-term direct transport benefits and wider benefits.
  5. Create a baseline of lagging and leading indicators to measure progress against SP objectives over short, medium, and long-term periods.
  6. Undertake retrospective case studies of completed schemes and baseline studies of planned schemes to review and improve monitoring and evaluation processes.
Skills:
  1. Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  2. Professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  3. Strong quantitative skills, particularly in data analysis and evidence assessment.
  4. Experience in producing high-quality strategic analysis.
  5. Experience in commissioning external research.
  6. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence using complex information and diverse data sources.
  7. Ability to communicate complex economic and technical issues effectively to non-analytical audiences.
  8. Proven track record of successfully delivering projects.
