Job description

MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit an economic developemnt manager on a long term temporary contract (6 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate - £25.79 ph + benefits.

The Role:

  • Advise the Heads of Service on economic development matters and support the attraction of investment and job creation within the Borough, with a focus on regeneration and business support.
  • Develop and lead strategic regeneration and investment projects, identifying barriers to growth and implementing policy initiatives that position the Council competitively at local, regional and global levels.
  • Foster strong partnerships with government departments, local authorities, Invest Northern Ireland, the private sector, educational institutions and international partners to promote economic growth and opportunity.
  • Act as a key facilitator of local economic initiatives, ensuring close collaboration with internal teams including Planning and Capital Projects, and delivering seamless services to investors and developers.
  • Manage staff, budgets and performance to ensure efficient service delivery, including overseeing contractors and partnerships, and supporting staff development and training.
  • Represent the Council at meetings, networking events and promotional activities, acting as an ambassador for the Borough to encourage investment and raise its economic profile.
  • Lead on securing and managing external funding opportunities, including from UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Belfast Region City Deal, and contribute to the preparation of business plans, reports and corporate strategies.

The Person:

  • A degree in a relevant subject. e,g. economics/business.
  • Previous experience in an economic role.
  • Experience of managing a team and projects involving regeneration.
  • Full current driving license.
