Talan’s Strategy and Consulting Team in the UK seeks an Economic Consultant to lead projects and deliver rigorous analysis across client accounts. Based in Birmingham or London, you will shape low-carbon policy and investment decisions, applying both economic judgement and robust data to inform strategies for climate action.

You will work on energy transitions—hydrogen, heat pumps, biofuels—and develop as a trusted advisor through coaching, feedback, and clear progression criteria toward senior

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience as an economic analyst in government, consultancy, thinktank or comparable organisation.
• Degree preferably in Economics, Finance or other numerate social science subjects.
• Strong numerical and analytical capability with ability to structure complex problems.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for senior industry figures.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver quantitative analyses (cost–benefit analysis, policy impact assessment, scenario modelling, economic appraisal).
• Analyse multiple criteria to assess policy options and low-carbon technologies.
• Develop future industry and policy scenarios to inform client investment decisions.
• Communicate methods and outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Manage delivery of research projects and coordinate analyst teams.
