The Role
As the Cumbria Team Lead, you will be at the forefront of our ecology team in the region, contributing to the success of Tetra Tech's UK nature team. This role combines leadership, business development, and technical excellence. You will lead by example, guiding your team to deliver high-quality ecological services while fostering new opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships.
Your main responsibilities include leading and managing the ecology team, providing mentorship, overseeing project delivery, ensuring technical quality, and maintaining client engagement. You will support project management training and lead projects aligned with your technical expertise. Collaboration across disciplines and understanding business operations will be advantageous.
You will represent the Cumbria region and contribute to business development activities, including leading and supporting bids, tenders, and framework opportunities. Building relationships with clients and colleagues is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Team Development: Mentor and inspire the team, communicate effectively, foster collaboration, and oversee staff development, including line management tasks.
Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, positioning us as a trusted partner.
Project Leadership: Lead ecological projects from consultation to delivery, support junior project managers, and ensure project quality.
All Team Leads will receive Tetra Tech's Project Management Level 2 training.
Technical Expertise: Provide high-level technical guidance, supervise technical outputs, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to technical research and knowledge sharing. Experience with Ecological Impact Assessments, EIA reports, and Habitat Regulations Assessments is required.
Business Growth: Contribute to the strategic development of the Nature department and wider business, including market analysis and opportunity development.

- Relevant academic qualification
- Full Member of CIEEM
- Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist
- Industry experience and capability
- Full driving license
