Are you ready to join a team of talented ecologists and shape the future of the environment?

Join our dynamic Nature team as an Ecologist (all levels) in various locations including Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Croydon, Basingstoke, Cambridge, Birmingham, Nottingham, Dublin, Belfast, Cardiff, Bristol, Glasgow, and Newcastle. We offer a flexible hybrid working model. Our team works on a mix of large infrastructure projects across energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport sectors, as well as supporting the wider AECOM Nature team with national and international projects.

Depending on your interests and skills, you may support areas such as species and habitats surveys, work winning, and Biodiversity Net Gain mentoring. We provide internal and external training within a nurturing mentoring and coaching framework.

Responsibilities

1. Support the health, safety, and well-being of the team and colleagues.
2. Assist in preparing high-quality bids and tenders for ecological services in relevant sectors.
3. Plan and organize ecological project phases, ensuring resources, budgets, and controls meet requirements.
4. Deliver high-quality ecological consultancy and advisory services, including review processes.
5. Develop pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues.
6. Communicate professionally with team members, clients, and within projects.
7. Contribute to ecology chapters for environmental statements and license applications.
8. Produce or review project deliverables for quality.

Qualifications

1. Experience in planning and delivering ecological services in the UK or Ireland.
2. Understanding of wildlife conservation principles.
3. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM) and working towards Chartership.
4. Excellent field skills, including protected species licences.
5. Proactive approach to Health and Safety.
6. Mentoring and supporting team members.
