Salary: £40,021 - £43,388 p.a.

* The post location will be a combination of both home and office . The postholder will be required to attend regular meetings in Inverness with regular site visits across the region. .

Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: As part of the ecology team led by a Senior Ecology Officer, you will be involved in key aspects of the Council’s work to address the ecological emergency and tackle biodiversity loss.

This role has a dual focus providing both ecology advice to the planning service, developers and agents on a range of development proposals (focussing on renewable energy and grid infrastructure projects) and working closely with developers of major and national infrastructure and renewables projects to deliver upfront strategic biodiversity enhancement projects across Highland (as per Item 9 https://www.highland.gov.uk/meetings/meeting/5175/economy_and_infrastructure_committee). This unique role will be pivotal in ensuring that long-term, landscape-scale biodiversity improvements are delivered strategically across the region.

You will have the opportunity to undertake survey work across Highland to assist the Ecology Survey Team and to help define nature networks and Local Nature Conservation Sites

You will represent the Council on a variety of local and national biodiversity working groups. You will also respond to enquiries relating to ecology and biodiversity from Council services, elected Members, developers and the public.
