Job summary

We are seeking an ecologist to join M Group Highways on a permanent basis. The role offers hybrid working with 2-3 days from home and offices in Beaconsfield or other locations, plus a company car or allowance.

You will develop an in-house ecology function, support habitat and species surveys, ECoW requirements, licensing, mitigation and Biodiversity Net Gain across diverse contracts.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence.
• Experience in field surveys and reporting (BNG & protected species).
• Knowledge of UK Habitat Classification and BNG assessment.
• Ability to manage priorities and communicate with project teams.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away from home.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consultancy services to manage ecological constraints.
• Collaborate with design, construction and operations teams.
• Support habitat and species surveys and ECoW requirements.
• Assist with impact assessments, licensing and mitigation.
• Contribute to Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) initiatives.
• Conduct fieldwork and desk-based assessments across contracts.
