Job description

Are you an ecologist with a desire to put your expertise to good use across a diversity of projects with the support of an experienced team? Are you ambitious to develop your technical skills and career in line with a defined career pathway? Do you want to find a work/life balance despite the nocturnal nature of bat work?

The Role

As Tetra Tech builds on its track record as a leading global environmental consultancy, we are seeking ecologists of all levels to strengthen our expertise in the Midlands. With ambitions to grow our UK presence, we are looking for dynamic ecologists to join our network of over 50 ecologists.

As a multidisciplinary consultancy, we work closely with planning, placemaking, engineering, transportation, and asset management teams. You will develop relationships across the business, liaising with the wider ecology team and supporting all project stages.

Our services span sectors including residential, defence, energy, government, and transport. With over 50 ecologists, we leverage our technical expertise to develop optimal solutions.

Projects are primarily focused in the East Midlands, including Lincolnshire and East Anglia. We operate flexible, hybrid working arrangements, allowing you to choose where, how, and when you work, provided client needs are met. The role involves site work and collaboration with colleagues across teams, potentially requiring some time at an office or alternative workspace.

We are open to flexible working arrangements, including reduced or compressed hours and flexible start and finish times. We consider applications from candidates who may wish to defer start dates.

About The Team
  • Over 50 ecologists across 13 offices working as one team.
  • Minimal time away from home.
  • IT systems support seamless remote and flexible working, focusing on talent and skills, not location.
  • Cars or car allowances are provided to all team members, including for personal use.
  • Established TOIL system for flexible time management.
  • Clear career frameworks with internal and external training and mentoring.
  • Incentivisation for bat handling licences.
  • Financial bonuses for achieving Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist status with CIEEM.
  • Collaborative culture with support from various professional teams.

Tetra Tech is an equal opportunities employer and encourages applications from all qualified candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, transgender status, religion, marital status, or parental status, in line with the Equalities Act 2010.
