Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Ecologist for a full-time contract position in North Wales. The ideal candidate will have a BEng or BSc in ecology or a related field and at least 10 years of experience in ecological activities, especially in the Oil&Gas sector. Responsibilities include providing ecological advice, conducting surveys, and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • BEng or BSc majoring in ecology or environmental sciences or similar.
  • 10 years experience in ecological activities possibly for an Oil&Gas project.
  • Knowledge of UK and/or Welsh environmental legislation, habitat and protected species ecology.
  • Membership of the CIEEM and/or of the AEECoW or working towards it, UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ecological advice to the Construction Contractor.
  • Undertake or oversee pre-construction surveys for protected species.
  • Monitor ecological conditions during the Construction Stage.
  • Provide ecological toolbox talks to site personnel.
  • Highlight mitigation to minimize impacts on wildlife and sensitive habitats.
  • Monitor implementation of mitigation measures for compliance.
  • Deliver coherent and timely solutions to ecological constraints.

Overview

ECOLOGIST - CONTRACT – NORTH WALES

To be considered for the role, candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Our Client, a global leader in the engineering and construction of major projects for the energy and infrastructure sectors, both offshore and onshore, is currently looking for an Ecologist to join the QHSE department in North Wales.

Qualifications
  • Education: BEng or BSc majoring in ecology or environment sciences or similar
  • Experience: 10 years in ecological activities possibly for an Oil&Gas project with environmental challenges
  • Technical knowledge: UK and/or Welsh environmental legislation, habitat and protected species ecology
  • Certification: Membership of the CIEEM and/or of the AEECoW or working towards it, UK driving licence
Responsibilities
  • Provide ecological advice to the Construction Contractor over the entire construction program
  • Undertake or oversee pre-construction surveys for protected species in the areas affected by the TCPA Proposed Development
  • Monitor ecological conditions during the Construction Stage to identify additional constraints that may arise as a result of natural changes to ecological baseline over time (e.g. the monitoring of badger activity within and in close proximity to construction works)
  • Provide ecological toolbox talks to site personnel (including ecological receptors) to make them aware of ecological constraints and information;
  • Highlight mitigation to minimize impacts and make site personnel aware of their responsibility with regards to wildlife and sensitive habitats in the context of legislation and policy
  • Monitor the implementation of mitigation measures during the Construction Stage to ensure compliance with protected species legislation, licensing, and commitments within the ES
  • Deliver coherent and timely solutions to ecological constraints;
Rate, Duration and Work Pattern

RATE: Please quote what limited company hourly rate you would be looking for.

DURATION: Start ASAP.

WORK PATTERN: Full time. Up to Five and a half days per week.
