Astute’s Renewables team exclusively retained with a leading planning and environmental consultancy with a mission to drive sustainable development through intelligent planning solutions, they are now looking to recruit Ecologists at all levels to join their team based in Irvine, Ayrshire, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available.

The Ecologist role offers a negotiable salary depending on experience along with the opportunity to work in a collaborative, values-led environment focused on innovation, growth, and development.

Responsibilities and duties

As an Ecologist with this company, you will:

* Deliver Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, and related fieldwork activities.
* Conduct ecological assessments to support planning applications from design to construction phase.
* Manage project workloads and appoint/manage subcontractors as required.
* Produce concise, high-quality ecological reports and ensure delivery to client deadlines.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary design teams to provide ecological input and advice.
* Communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and consultees, both verbally and in writing.
* Contribute to the continued growth and success of the business through problem-solving and innovation.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

* A degree or postgraduate qualification in Ecology, Biological Sciences or related discipline.
* Ideally at least 2+ years experience completing ecological surveys, including PEA and habitat assessments.
* Experience working on renewable energy projects would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro
