Ecologist

Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh

Rate: �500 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract Length: 6 Months +

Sector: Rail Infrastructure

We are currently seeking an experienced Ecologist to support Rail infrastructure projects across Scotland. Working closely with site teams, supervisors, and project managers, you will assess ecological constraints, ensure compliance with environmental legislation, and advise on mitigation strategies for biodiversity and protected species.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct and assess outputs from environmental and ecological surveys (e.g. Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, protected species assessments).

Carry out site visits to identify ecological risks and constraints along rail corridors, including under bridges and around infrastructure assets.

Determine whether protected species licences are required and manage the application process.

Provide expert advice on managing invasive species and protected habitats, such as:

* Japanese Knotweed
* Giant Hogweed
* Great Crested Newts
* Badgers and their setts

? Requirements:

Proven experience working in ecology, ideally within a rail or linear infrastructure environment.

Familiarity with environmental legislation and licensing.
