Job description

Ecologist - Temp 12 months - £16.82 per hour PAYE – London/Epsom

Multinational engineering, design, project management and consulting services company is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join their ecology team in London and the southeast.

This is a temporary role to start ASAP for an initial 12-month period and will pay £16.82 per hour PAYE.

The Ecologist will support to deliver a diverse range of challenging and exciting projects and will help design and apply new approaches to the organisations work. The Ecologist will plan, coordinate and undertake field surveys; analysing and interpreting survey results.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • A degree or equivalent in Ecology or a closely related field.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 3 or above (desirable), or be able to demonstrate that skills are equivalent to this.
  • Strong protected species survey skills, including demonstrable competency to capable level in line with CIEEM’s Competency Framework to lead protected species surveys is essential.
  • Level 1 or Level 2 survey licence for bats is desirable.
  • Protected species survey licence.
  • Working knowledge and experience of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments, and the Defra Biodiversity Metric. Demonstrable experience of undertaking Biodiversity Net Gain assessments (desirable).
  • A full UK/EEC driving licence.
