Job description

Take this fantastic opportunity to join a Top 25 UK company as the newest Ecologist on their South England Ecology team! Our client is a major multidisciplinary firm that, due to an increase in project workload, is looking to hire a new Ecologist to support their growing nature-positive initiatives. You will join a large team of Ecologists and Environmentalists from various disciplines, contributing to significant developments across the UK. The client is committed to implementing crucial BNG practices across all project sites to conserve and enhance local nature. This position is available in their Surrey and London offices, with opportunities to travel nationwide for high-profile projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with key infrastructure projects, managing budgets and schedules.
  2. Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, acting as a professional point of contact for clients.
  3. Plan and conduct field surveys, gather data, and produce reports.
  4. Contribute to ecological mitigation strategies and manage license applications.
  5. Develop the Ecology team’s portfolio by managing existing client relationships and establishing new partnerships.

Requirements:

Candidates should ideally meet the following criteria:

  • 1-2 years of Ecological Consultant experience.
  • Membership of CIEEM (the client can cover Chartership costs).
  • A degree in Ecology or a related field, e.g., Wildlife Ecology & Conservation Science.
  • Strong botanical skills; FISC Certifications are desirable but not necessary.
  • Experience with UKHabs surveys, Habitat Condition Assessments (HCAs), DEFRA biodiversity metric, and BNG assessments is highly desirable.
  • Experience in project management, including financial and technical aspects.
  • Proven experience in preparing reports such as PEAs, EcIAs, Biodiversity EIA Chapters, or HRAs.
  • Experience with NSIPS is highly desirable.
  • Possession of Protected Species licenses is highly desirable.
  • A full UK driver’s license.
