Ecologist (Contract opportunity/ Anywhere in UK)

Who we are

You can choose to work with Grant Thornton as an Independent Consultant either through your own limited company or on inside IR35 terms.

Joining us in Public Services Advisory

The Public Services Advisory (PSA) team is focused on providing public, private and third sector clients involved in the creation of public infrastructure assets or the delivery of public services with the support, insight, knowledge and vision to enable them to unlock growth and deliver their strategic objectives, through the provision of Advisory, Insight-led Consulting and Analytics platforms.

As an interim Ecologist, you will be involved in technical tasks like conducting an assessment of ecosystem services and valuation for a particular area, as well as providing strategic advice to clients on their nature strategy and its potential impact. You will have the freedom to work on projects that you choose, whether full or part-time, and support our clients and internal teams on short to medium-term assignments.

Skills we are looking for

  • Experience in advising clients on nature-related strategies, ecosystem services assessment and valuation.
  • Good understanding of the evolving policy, regulation and requirements for nature and biodiversity globally.
  • Well versed in TNFD analysis and transition planning for nature.
  • Strong knowledge of the suite of nature-based solutions for a varied range of challenges.
  • Ability to take surveys where required or utilize existing surveys to ascertain habitat baseline.
  • Marine or aquatic experience will be beneficial.
  • Strong communication, research, report writing and relationship management skills.
