Position: Consultant Ecologist
Location: Penarth, near Cardiff
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced ecologist ready to take on new challenges and broaden your expertise? A forward-thinking and independent ecological consultancy is seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join their dedicated team in Penarth, near Cardiff.

This role offers the chance to work on a variety of exciting and impactful projects across Wales, England, and Northern Ireland, contributing to ecological and landscape assessments for commercial, residential, and infrastructure developments.

To excel in this position, you'll need:

  1. Several years' experience in ecological consultancy in the UK.
  2. Proven expertise in protected species surveys, particularly for bats and reptiles.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and its practical applications.
  4. Demonstrable report-writing skills.
  5. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Your Role as a Consultant Ecologist:
As a Consultant Ecologist, you'll take on a mix of office and fieldwork, with the majority of work in South Wales and occasional travel across the UK for specific projects. Your responsibilities will include:
  1. Coordinating ecological surveys.
  2. Supporting the delivery of high-quality reports and recommendations.
  3. Contributing to the development of mitigation strategies and habitat enhancement plans.
  4. Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
