A leading environmental consultancy is seeking an enthusiastic Ecologist to join their Environment team in Bradford. This role focuses on providing expert ecological advice and ensuring biodiversity is considered in planning decisions and land management. The ideal candidate will have a degree related to Ecology and experience in assessments, driving local biodiversity initiatives while collaborating with various stakeholders.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Ecologist to join our Environment or Planning team to help deliver our growing ecological responsibilities across the local area.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of local government, ensuring that biodiversity is properly considered in planning decisions, development proposals, and land management across our County.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert ecological advice on planning applications and policy
Support delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Local Nature Recovery Strategies
Undertake site visits, habitat surveys, and desk-based ecological assessments
Collaborate with planning officers, landowners, and local stakeholders
Promote biodiversity and nature-based solutions in local authority projects
We’re looking for someone who:
Has a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
Brings experience in ecological assessments, ideally in a local government or consultancy setting
Understands UK and EU wildlife legislation and planning policy
Can work collaboratively across departments and with external partners
Is passionate about protecting and enhancing local biodiversity
