Join this major multidisciplinary firm and take a big next step in your ecology career! Our client is an internationally recognised presence in the environmental sector, working in many sectors including nuclear, transport, renewable energy and water to name a few. Working as an Ecologist for this client will expose you to a plethora of engaging projects across the UK that are sure to keep each day interesting and your existing skillset expanding. As the new Ecologist on the team, you'll be joining the Birmingham office and wider West Midlands and Northern Ecology team, working with like-minded individuals to deliver developments aimed at promoting biodiversity and protecting existing wildlife. The ideal Ecologist will be available to work in a hybrid manner, splitting their time between home, the Birmingham office and being out in the field to contribute to nationally significant projects whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Responsibility:

As the new Ecologist on the team, your responsibilities will consist of:

  • Planning and carrying out field surveys and analysing & interpreting the subsequent results.
  • Producing & assisting with reports based on data gathered from field surveys and license applications.
  • Mentoring junior/graduate team members and supporting senior team.
  • Assisting with business development, managing your own portfolio of clientele within the Midlands and UK region.
  • Preparing bids for proposals and collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team to develop and maintain client relations.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Ecologist position, you'll need to meet as much of the following criteria as possible:

  • 2-4 years of experience within Ecological Consulting.
  • Be a member of a relevant professional body (CIEEM) - the client will cover any future membership costs.
  • Strong understanding of UKHabs Surveys, Habitat Condition Assessments and the use of the DEFRA biodiversity metric.
  • Strong experience with producing a wide array of reports, including PEAs, EcIAs, Biodiversity Chapters for EIAs and/or HRAs.
  • A clean, full UK driver's license.
  • Project Management experience, including either technical, financial or quality assurance aspects.
  • Protected Species Licenses are desirable - Bat Licenses are highly
  • Proven experience working on NSIPs is also quite favourable.
