Job description

Ecologist / BNG Specialist

Salary: Negotiable - depending on experience

Location: Bedford

Due to a rapidly increasing workload, our client is seeking a talented Ecologist to join their team and lead the expansion of national ecology services across the Group. This presents a real opportunity for career advancement within a collaborative and friendly practice offering the full spectrum of landscape, planning, and design services.

Experience: Ecologist

  1. Biodiversity Net Gain experience, including carrying out and coordinating biodiversity impact assessments, BNG option assessments for planning applications, and drafting and agreeing Biodiversity Gain Plans.
  2. Experience in purchasing biodiversity units and credits as part of an offsetting scheme.
  3. Ecological survey experience including Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Enhancement & Management Plans, Natural England licence applications (bats, great crested newt, and badger), and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
  4. Experience in planning and coordinating specialist ecological surveyors (independent contractors) near development sites nationwide.
  5. Experience in providing reports for planning submissions and discharging conditions attached to planning permissions.
  6. Willingness to work as part of a team, dedicated to meeting client requirements and providing practical solutions.
  7. A full driving licence and the ability to travel when necessary.
