Job Description
Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations
Participate in regular tax audits and payroll
Prepare budgeting reports and forecast revenues
Manage month-end and year-end closing
Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department
Organise financial data into useable information and maintain updated records
Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives
Ensure compliance with the law
The Successful Applicant
The successful Accountant should have:
Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA)
Proven work experience in Local Government
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind
Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software
