Operations and Maintenance Engineer

This role is based in Sheffield and involves working remotely with the possibility of on-site visits. Telent is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to support Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within designated motorway areas including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

The role involves working with a supportive team, using your initiative to solve problems in the field, and ensuring the delivery of maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works that keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables.
• Complete commissioning of equipment to standard, on time and within budget.
• Respond to equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets.
• Undertake maintenance and testing of fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing within fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
