Job description

Indirect Procurement Manager

  • Location: Based at Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU. This is a hybrid position with the expectation for the successful candidate to work from site 2 days a week
  • Contract: 40 hours a week - Monday - Friday
  • Salary: c £44,000 - £46,000 Depending on Experience.

What you’ll be doing…

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Indirect Procurement Manager to join our professional Procurement team. With an overhead spend of £25 million, Riverford relies on effective management of these budgets to drive both cost savings and business success. As a Procurement Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that savings targets are consistently exceeded and that budgets are adhered to.

Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement, you will take charge of managing a diverse range of indirect spend categories, including commercial, IT, people, and central functions. A proactive approach will be essential in identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving process improvements through data analysis and an understanding of market trends.

Your role will be central to executing strategic sourcing strategies, ensuring strong supplier relationships, and guaranteeing that Riverford's co-owners receive value from their indirect spend.

Skills & experience

  • Experience: Previous experience managing multi-million-pound complex indirect procurement spend, with a proven track record in developing category strategies, negotiation with suppliers and delivering results
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of total cost of ownership, contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse large amounts of data and make informed, strategic decisions. Must be highly proficient in M365 suite, and a familiarity with procurement tools and ERP software is desirable.
  • Negotiation Skills: Experienced in leading negotiations with suppliers and managing contracts to deliver optimal outcomes for the business.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on procurement objectives.
  • Change Management: Proven ability to drive change and improve procurement processes, systems, and practices. Coaching approach to upskilling others.
