We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to play a pivotal role in our Volunteer Service for Domestic Abuse in London
Sounds great, what will I be doing?
This role focuses on leading and coordinating volunteer-led projects across Hestia's Domestic Abuse (DA) services using a structured project management approach. You will be responsible for engaging, recruiting, and onboarding volunteers in line with Hestia's processes, ensuring they are well-supported and integrated into service delivery. A key aspect of the role involves inspiring teams to think creatively about how volunteers can enhance services, particularly in ways that bring joy, empowerment, and purpose to women affected by domestic abuse. You will build strong relationships with DA services, providing guidance to staff to ensure volunteers are effectively supported and valued. The role also includes managing volunteer enquiries, promoting volunteering opportunities externally, and maintaining accurate records for monitoring and reporting purposes. Representing Hestia in the wider community, you'll act as an ambassador for the volunteering programme, championing the positive impact volunteers make. This is a dynamic and rewarding position that requires strong communication, coordination, and relationship-building skills.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.
Here's what the team will be looking for
The role requires strong organisational and project management skills, along with the ability to provide professional and empowering support to volunteers, peers, and service users. While experience in recruiting or supervising volunteers is beneficial, it is not essential. A friendly and approachable manner is crucial for engaging effectively with people. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook is expected, as are good literacy, numeracy, and evaluation skills. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cultural, social, and health issues affecting Hestia's service users, particularly those impacted by domestic abuse. They should also be capable of building collaborative relationships with external partners across sectors and have a sound understanding of safeguarding practices.
