Job description

The Energy sector is rapidly transforming against a backdrop of growing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets, and new innovations in technology.

We are currently seeking an experienced ECC (NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract) Project Manager to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of projects, across various technical disciplines with clients across the country. These projects can include HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, connections schemes, etc.

You will join a growing and collaborative team, working in partnership with a variety of clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges. We have ambitious growth plans and as a result, there are lots of great development opportunities across our business. This is an opportunity for you to play an important part in the U.K. energy transition.

As part of your role, you will:
  1. Manage the full lifecycle of the project from feasibility to detailed design to construction and closure.
  2. Report the project status including commercial and programme.
  3. Manage internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  4. Manage the contract and adhere to contract data.
  5. Manage time, quality, cost, and risk across the lifecycle of a project.
  6. Raise change (compensation events and early warnings in a timely manner through to completion).
  7. Communicate and report to the client and subcontractors.
  8. Promote a high standard of health and safety.
About You

You will be a pro-active individual with knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry. You will have the capability to coach and work within the wider energy team. You will be engaged in the engineering community and understand how we can drive success for our clients, including understanding innovative solutions and industry best practices.

  1. Hold an NEC4 ECC Project Manager accreditation.
  2. Have previous project management experience in the areas listed in the ‘job role’.
  3. Have a willingness to travel as required.

We are particularly interested in anyone who has good knowledge of National Grid's Transmission procedures and has thorough knowledge and experience applying National Grid's Technical Specification, Technical Guidance Notes, and Design Handbooks relating to civil/structural engineering of electricity T&D infrastructure in the UK.

An understanding of the causes and consequences of Impressed Voltage is preferable.
