Assistant Buyer
Kingston-Upon-Thames
Part-Time (Freelance)

Purpose of the role: The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in the smooth and commercial delivery of the Pringle product range to drive profitable sales growth. This role supports the management of the process to ensure that the collections, once designed, are appropriately priced and effectively produced to meet quality expectations of the Pringle customer, in line with department and business expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for:
  • Assisting Buyer in all aspects of the product development process.
  • Buy & develop ranges in line with the agreed range and business strategy.
  • Contracting orders to suppliers for all departments to Critical Path (delegating to Admin if necessary).
  • Oversee buying info on the range plan to ensure 100% accuracy and timely entry.
  • Sample Management
  • Critical path management

Range Development:

  • Develop ranges to the agreed plan and margin, in line with supply partners.
  • Place orders and manage availability to 95%.
  • Maximize sales through trading & OTB strategy within parameters.
  • Manage critical path & own all approval stages.
  • Liaise with suppliers & sourcing to manage sourcing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with merchandiser to produce lessons learned for future ranging.
  • Produce monthly market & competitor reports for future strategies.
  • Present ranges for sign-off.
  • Monitor sales and performance.
  • Understand cost price, margin, and quantity requirements.

Critical Path & Fit Process:

  • Update and manage critical path weekly.
  • Report exceptions to all channel launch dates weekly.
  • Coordinate weekly with team, merchandising, and technical teams through garment approval stages.
  • Delegate or approve fabrics, colors, & trims for delivery.
  • Attend fit sessions & approve quickly through technical staging.
  • Report QC issues and solutions to the Buyer.
  • Manage late delivery debit notes, ensuring they are listed on logistics report.

Samples:

  • Ensure timely delivery of SMS & photo shoot samples, managing trackers and liaising with channels.
  • Manage invoicing and courier charges within budget.
  • Work with technical team on fit sessions & sample organization.
  • Arrange samples for sign off, noting amendments.
  • Manage sample storage and delegate tidiness to Admin if necessary.

People:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on proof approvals and input buying info into the product database.
