Job Description

Macildowie is seeking a Logistics / Transport Planner to join a growing company in Derby. The ideal candidate will possess strong planning and coordination skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have excellent attention to detail, communication abilities, and a good understanding of logistics or transport operations. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient, timely deliveries and smooth day-to-day transport planning.

Salary: Up to £29,000 depending on experience
Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Monday to Friday)

Note: This is a full-time, on-site, permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and scheduling daily transport routes and vehicle loads
• Liaising with drivers, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate deliveries
• Monitoring live deliveries and resolving issues or delays
• Ensuring compliance with transport regulations and company procedures
• Updating systems with delivery information, schedules, and changes
• Managing transport documentation and maintaining accurate records
• Producing reports on delivery performance, route efficiency, and costs
• Supporting wider logistics and operational tasks as needed

Required Experience

• Previous experience in transport planning or logistics scheduling
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK or relevant delivery area
• Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and transport/logistics systems
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Great organisational skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of driver hours, tachograph regulations, and fleet compliance (desirable)
