About your role:

Join us as a Senior Data Engineering Leader to shape the future of British Gas Business’s data-driven success. You will lead transformative Data Engineering projects, design and maintain scalable data pipelines and models, and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Data Pipeline Development: Build and maintain robust ETL pipelines for seamless data integration.
• Data Quality: Conduct data quality audits to ensure accuracy.
• Data Product Engineering: Collaborate on creating data products for analytics and machine learning.
• Data Architecture: Design and optimize data architecture to meet organizational needs.
• Performance Optimization: Improve data extraction and storage efficiency.
• Technical Support: Troubleshoot data issues proactively.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive process documentation.
• Innovation: Stay updated with emerging technologies to enhance capabilities.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Develop talent, foster a culture of excellence, and ensure succession planning.

Candidate requirements:

• Extensive experience in data engineering, with a proven ability to develop scalable pipelines and models.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks) and big data tools (Hadoop, Spark).
• Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and Scala, with experience in ETL development.
• Experience mentoring less experienced Data Engineers.
• Ability to lead complex projects ensuring high-quality outcomes.
