Cumberland Council is seeking a Family Help Area Officer to enhance early support for children and families. The role involves providing guidance to professionals and collaborating with various agencies to implement improvements in Early Help services. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our Family Help Partnerships and Assurance Team within the Family Help, Partnership and Youth Justice Directorate.
As a Family Help Area Officer, you will contribute to high-quality early support for children and families across Cumberland. Your role will involve providing Early Help consultation and guidance to professionals and practitioners delivering frontline support to vulnerable children, young people, and their families with multiple needs. You will support external partners to initiate, undertake, and quality assure Early Help Assessments and plans.
This is an exciting time to join our team as we develop Family Help across Cumberland. You will be part of a small, proactive, and supportive team within a larger multidisciplinary Family Help, Partnership and Youth Justice Directorate.
We seek someone passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people, and families, with the ability to promote the vision for Family Help across Cumberland. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Cumberland, including schools, voluntary sector, and other agencies, to implement improvements in Early Help services.
The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm, relevant knowledge and experience, and the ability to support and empower teams, maintaining a culture that puts children, young people, and families at the heart of service delivery.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check with a Children's Barred List check. It involves working in regulated activity with adults and/or children. It is an offence for barred individuals to apply for roles involving unsupervised work with these groups.
