Are you a React developer seeking an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of JP Morgan's Salt Design system?

Are you looking to be part of a collaborative team that values Open Source, leads the way in CIB UI strategy, and is actively building a design system while fostering a community around its products?

The Front-end Development team at Digital Platform has an opening for an Associate role. As a Front-end developer, you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of the Salt Design System. We leverage the latest UI technologies to deliver maximum value to our stakeholders.

The Salt Design System is the next UI Toolkit for CIB (Commercial & Investment Bank). It provides a comprehensive set of core UI components to create reusable patterns for business applications, ensuring consistency and accessibility (WCAG 2.1).

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality React components for the Salt Design System.
• Collaborate with designers to implement UI designs and ensure consistency across digital products.
• Work closely with product managers and developers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure quality.
• Stay updated with front-end trends and contribute to process improvements.
• Contribute to team culture of equity and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
• Familiarity with modern front-end tools (e.g., esbuild, rollup, vite).
• Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes (e.g., cloud, AI, ML, mobile).

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Experience building reusable UI components or with design systems.
• Familiarity with NextJS, Remix.
• Experience with asynchronous operations in JavaScript (e.g., Axios, RxJS).
• Knowledge of UI state management.
• Contributions to open source projects.
• Advocacy for clean code.
• Understanding of UI accessibility concerns.
• Familiarity with JPM's design systems (UITK, MDS).
