About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Hospital avoidance team for a part-time and full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist, who is ready for a challenge and a new career pathway and is committed to providing a quality therapy service, to patients in the Emergency department at Pinderfields Hospital and assessments units on the Pinderfields and Dewsbury sites.

The team works generically as well a maintaining our professional roles and standards, the team is made up with a GP, Consultants, physiotherapists and nurses and have dedicated Care coordinators to support rapid discharge, the team have strong links to community services such as Virtual ward, IV therapy team, ICT and reablement services etc

The team works 5 days over 7 per week, standard working pattern with shift patterns: 8am - 4pm and 10am - 6pm flexible working will be considered.

The team see a variety of conditions from falls to a fast track patient who's wish is to return home.

The successful candidate will need to be adaptable, have excellent communication skills, strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills and be knowledgeable about discharge planning, audit and outcome measures.

It is essential that the candidates possess professional leadership and management skills including supervision, performance and development of Therapy staff within the multidisciplinary context.

As a department we are able to offer you structured supervision, excellent training and development program's and the opportunity to work in a friendly, committed team.

  • Ensure that professional standards are maintained in patient management and treatment within the service provided.
  • To co-ordinate and liaise with other relevant disciplines and agencies and encourage inter-disciplinary co-operation at all levels.
  • To evaluate the Therapy Service and plan future developments together with the Clinical Lead, Service Lead and Therapy service lead
  • To supervise and support Team Members

Key requirements

For this role you are required to be registered with HCPC Occupational Therapist and have a Bachelors Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy.
