Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise daily activities of the business design management plan and ensure its effectiveness in meeting business, statutory, legal, and contractual requirements on projects.
  • Deliver elements of the annual business plan within set timeframes and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Present design review data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to project and sub-function leadership.
  • Work with team members to operationally deliver regional and business strategies.
  • Support business development and work-winning activities.
  • Ensure adherence to management systems and clarity of project roles and responsibilities across portfolios.
  • Manage a small team of direct reports, coordinating activities, and providing performance management, development, and coaching.
  • Contribute to management reviews by collating, analyzing, and presenting data and key metrics.
  • Collaborate towards the net zero carbon transition, actively managing associated emissions and reductions during project delivery.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Working knowledge of design management systems, risk management, and mitigation strategies.
  • Basic understanding of prefabrication/build strategies.
  • Basic reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of the construction and consultancy industries.
  • Understanding of Building Safety legislation, standards, contracts, and health & safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Strong BIM literacy and IT skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to use initiative and make appropriate decisions.
  • Educational background at degree level in a design-related discipline or equivalent.

Additional desirable qualities:

  • Basic Building Safety competence and a record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Understanding of statutory and mandatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Building Standards and legislation.
  • Basic understanding of HSE rules.
  • Strong analytical skills and a questioning attitude.
  • Impartiality and pragmatic evidence evaluation.
  • Membership in professional bodies such as RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, or CIAT (or equivalent).
