We are seeking a committed and experienced Maths Lead Teacher to join an Alternative Provision / PRU in Southend-on-Sea. This temporary to permanent role offers a competitive daily rate and the opportunity to make a transformative impact on students who thrive in alternative education settings.

As a Maths Lead Teacher, you will provide high-quality instruction to students up to GCSE level and support their learning in functional skills. This role is perfect for a passionate educator eager to inspire and empower students with creative and tailored teaching approaches. While experience is desirable, it is not essential, making this an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to grow in a supportive environment.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of the maths curriculum, foster a culture of learning, and create a positive, inclusive environment where students can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Maths up to GCSE level and functional skills, adapting lessons to meet individual student needs.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that support academic and personal development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, setting realistic and challenging targets.
  • Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment that promotes mutual respect and learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives and staff training programs.
  • Act as a role model for students, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to their success.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong understanding of the maths curriculum, including functional skills.
  • Experience working in alternative provisions, PRUs, or with students with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
