Project Quantity Surveyor - Northern Scotland - Outside Ir35 contract


About the Role

A civil engineering contractor in Scotland is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of major infrastructure projects across renewable energy, highways, and marine sectors in Northern Scotland.

Candidates with strong civil engineering experience and a working knowledge of NEC3 contracts are particularly encouraged to apply. A background in underground cabling and substations is especially welcomed, given the prevalence of SSE projects in the region, though flexibility will be exercised for the right candidate.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing the commercial aspects of infrastructure projects
  2. Measurement and valuation of civil engineering works
  3. Administering and ensuring compliance with NEC3/4 contracts
  4. Supporting cost analysis related to delay and disruption claims
  5. Communicating effectively with project teams and stakeholders
  6. Providing commercial advice and support to project management teams

Essential Requirements

  1. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
  2. 3-5 years' experience in civil engineering quantity surveying
  3. Experience in civil engineering projects, preferably in renewable energy infrastructure, highways, or marine construction
  4. Knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts
  5. Experience in projects exceeding £2M
  6. Good communication and analytical skills
  7. Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites

Desirable Experience

  1. Working towards MRICS/MInstCES qualification
  2. Understanding of heavy civils construction techniques
  3. Familiarity with MCHW or National Grid specifications
  4. Knowledge of the Scottish civil engineering sector
  5. Experience working in remote or island locations

Location

Based in Inverness with travel required to various project sites, occasionally requiring overnight stays. Special consideration will be given to candidates prepared to work away from home during the week on upcoming major infrastructure projects.
