Project Engineer II - Hydraulic Modeler

Ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking a career-minded Water/Wastewater Hydraulic Modeler to join our growing team.

Position Summary: The ideal candidate will lead engineering tasks and projects in water/wastewater, utilizing knowledge of design criteria, regulatory standards, and modeling software. Responsibilities include managing multiple projects, developing and analyzing models, and coordinating a modeling team. You will work on projects involving sanitary sewer and potable water systems in the Mid-Atlantic region, ensuring high-quality, timely, and budget-compliant delivery.

Compensation ranges from $45 to $60 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Support project management in hydraulic modeling tasks, including scope development and scheduling.
  • Provide project status updates and complete hydraulic models using advanced software and GIS tools.
  • Create, update, and calibrate hydraulic models; assess system performance; develop solutions; and prepare technical deliverables.
  • Manage project budgets, perform quality assurance, review project documents, and delegate tasks.
  • Mentor and guide design staff; communicate with clients; coordinate with internal teams and sub-consultants; develop proposals; and perform detailed engineering studies and computations.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 8-10+ years of specialized experience.
  • Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., InfoWorks, WaterGEMS, XPSWMM, etc.), data management, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with local government clients.
  • Professional Engineer License.
Working Conditions

Primarily office-based (95%), with occasional fieldwork in varied environmental conditions. Some lifting required.
