Company Description

Fairway Hydraulics Ltd, a family-run business with 50 years of continuous success, specialises in manufacturing and supplying hydraulic systems and components to industries like Rail, Marine, and Ground support.

Immediate requirement for an experienced full-time Mechanical Fitter to support a small manufacturer of special-purpose machinery/equipment.

The role will consist of assembling and fitting parts/sub-assemblies, which are subsequently mounted on a main hydraulic machine frame. This will entail marking out, drilling, and some remedial work.

The ideal candidate will be trained, holding a suitable, relevant qualification, whilst being able to display proven experience from similar positions.

The successful applicant must be able to:

1. Read and interpret engineering drawings
2. Modify or adjust parts as required (machining ability advantageous)
3. Competently use hand and power tools, test equipment, and measuring instruments
4. Inspect and check fitted parts and sub-assemblies
5. Able to complete standard engineering calculations

Position Details:

Location: Rushock, Droitwich, Worcestershire

Salary: £35-40k/annum

Position for a Mechanical Fitter looking for a workshop-based role that can offer a varied workload where you will assemble, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems and components for a successful and expanding family-run engineering business.

This is an ideal role for a Mechanical Fitter with experience in hydraulic engineering components and systems to be recognized as a specialist and join an industry-leading company offering good earning potential and a stable career.

With over 50 years of experience, Fairway Hydraulics is respected and known within the Hydraulic Industry as a leading manufacturer and distributor of Hydraulic solutions. The company’s knowledge base and experience ensure its position as a Distribution partner to Danfoss and can include some of the most prominent UK and global engineering companies in its client base, from Industrial lubrication systems, special purpose machines, and mechanical handling, to Rail, Ground Support, Municipal & Construction.

Within this workshop-based position, you will be tasked to service, repair, assemble, inspect, and commission hydraulic equipment to be supplied to a wide range of industries.

The Position:

1. Mechanical Fitter
2. £35-40k (depending upon experience) + Training + 23 days holiday + 8 Bank holidays
3. 39-hour week contract
4. Assemble, repair, maintenance, and fitting of hydraulic components and equipment
5. Liaising with the Directors to ensure all processes are clearly explained and efficient

The Ideal Person will:

1. Have strong mechanical and hydraulic engineering experience
2. Have a background in mechanical fitting and engineering
3. Be enthusiastic and willing to adapt in the work environment
4. Have previous experience in the engineering industry
5. Be willing to take on responsibility and communicate efficiently with colleagues, be open, well-mannered, approachable, flexible, and work well under occasional pressure
6. Be highly motivated, with the drive and commitment to deliver with quality, and work to deadlines with a level head and pleasant demeanor
